Social Media is now changing faster than ever, we all know that… Well most of us! Anyway, this means that the chances are your business uses it as well. That’s great, but the problem is, businesses still don’t “get” Social Media. Just because your company has a Facebook page or Twitter account, it doesn’t mean that you’re benefiting from having that Social Media presence. The key is getting your network to work for you, not the other way around, here are a few ideas that may make you rethink your approach to Social Media.
Mobile is a lot more popular than you think, and it is growing at an extreme rate! 189 million Facebook’s users are “mobile only” and in turn this generates 30% of Facebook’s total ad revenue. So your may need to reconsider how your content is viewed on mobile devices, and smaller screens. This is also relevant for your other platforms, your website for example. A lot of the time LinkedIn is overlooked as a Social Network. If you didn’t know, LinkedIn is basically the social network for professionals. It is growing every second with groups, blogs and even job listings, the network is a very rich source of information, put it this way… You’re unlikely to find funny cat videos here! However the users on LinkedIn are a lot less active than those on Facebook and Twitter and so if you are looking for interaction, this probably isn’t the best choice. However passive content like blog posts and thought leadership articles are perfect for your LinkedIn audience.
Social Media really comes down to what your goals are and who your target audience is. Something that works for one business may not work for another, however it doesn’t hurt to stay on top of the trends! Mobiles and tablets are getting even more affordable and so in turn more popular, making sure your content is clean and clear for the smaller screen is the way to stay ahead of the competition right now!
